According to City Officials these cuts could mean the end of over 600 student nutrition programs serving more than 210,000 meals to hungry kids each day, overdose prevention programs, daycare safety inspections, restaurant inspections, clinics that prevent the spread of diseases like measles and hepatitis, sexual health clinics, and emergency response to public health threats like SARS and H1N1 - to name just a few programs.

We must fight to protect these life-saving programs. Use our petition to send a message right now to Doug Ford, the Minister of Health, and your MPP. Tell them to stop these cuts before they happen. Before lives are lost.

We now know that Premier Doug Ford plans to cut $1 billion from Toronto Public Health over the next 10 years - effective immediately.

Here’s a round up of just SOME of the programs these cuts put at risk in our city:

  • Over 600 Student Nutrition (school breakfast programs)

  • Restaurant inspection programs (Dine Safe Toronto)

  • Dental clinics and programs that identify dental disease in students

  • Sexual health clinics

  • Clinics that prevent the spread of diseases (like measles and hepatitis)

  • Outbreak management in care facilities like our long term care homes

  • Emergency preparation and response to life-threatening outbreaks and hazards (like chemical spills) and detection and response to public health threats (like SARS and H1N1)

  • Daycare safety inspections

  • Diabetes prevention

  • Prenatal programs

  • Preschool speech and language programs as well as infant hearing loss programs

  • Bed bug identification and prevention

  • Inspection of pools, beaches, and water quality testing
