Michael is a dedicated city-builder with over a decade's worth of experience in social engagement, advocacy and fundraising.
Originally from Vancouver, Michael's advocacy began as part of a campaign to ensure that student life at the University of British Columbia could thrive in the face of stifling liquor and assembly restrictions. Later, Michael became an advocate for nightlife spaces as part of a city's cultural ecosystem. This, in turn, led to a campaign to elect a progressive mayor and council to Vancouver City Hall, followed by working on federal and provincial election campaigns.
More recently, Michael worked for Heritage Toronto in development, raising money for heritage education and advocacy programs across the city, along with forging new partnerships with businesses and community groups in celebrating Toronto's rich histories.
In his spare time, Michael moonlights as a DJ in Toronto's queer communities and studies Project Management at Ryerson University.
