Ala’a Adib

Your Progressive Champion for City Council in Etobicoke North (Ward 1) is Ala’a Adib. Ala'a is a long-time community organizer in Etobicoke. She founded Smile for Sache, a local organization that supports young people through community programming. She has built and run meal programs, youth workshops, and other initiatives that give young people real opportunities. Ala'a has the experience and the relationships to be a strong advocate for Etobicoke North and to win the resources her neighbours deserve.

Ala'a is committed to working with other progressive councillors to deliver for Etobicoke North: fast and reliable transit, affordable housing, and safe, healthy neighbourhoods. Progress Toronto will be working to spread the word about Ala'a in Etobicoke North.

About Ala’a from her website: Born and raised in Etobicoke, Ala’a Adib is a proud Torontonian with a deep love for her community and the people who call it home. As a graduate of Humber College, she has always believed every generation deserves to feel safe, supported, and empowered from seniors and longtime residents to youth and growing families.

Ala’a is running for City Councillor in Ward 1 Etobicoke North to be a strong, accountable voice for better opportunities and a community where everyone has the chance to thrive. She is focused on improving city services, supporting youth and families, strengthening neighbourhoods and creating a city that works better for the people who live here.

Community Leadership

  • Led food insecurity and community support programs

  • Built mentorship and sports programs for youth

Her work has been recognized with the 2025 King Charles III Coronation Medal, the Outstanding Mentor Award, Named one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch and the Mayor’s Community Safety Award.

This campaign is about more than a seat at the table. It’s about building a Ward 1, and a Toronto, where no one is overlooked, every voice is heard, and hope is turned into action.

Toronto deserves leadership that shows up and is held accountable, and leads with courage, compassion, and purpose.
