Become Our Progressive Champion in Scarborough—Rouge Park
A Progressive Champion is a candidate for Toronto City Council who is committed to building a more democratic, socially just, and progressive city. Progress Toronto will be campaigning to elect a Progressive Champion in Scarborough—Rouge Park by-election happening on September 29 2025.
To help select a candidate, we are asking candidates to answer a questionnaire by 9pm on Sunday August 31, 2025. The fast turnaround is so we can get to work sooner. Responses to these questions will be a major factor in determining which candidate Progress Toronto will support as a Progressive Champion.
Our questionnaire includes the top issues that we’ve worked on over the last term of council, that local supporters we are surveying have highlighted in their responses, and that advocates across the city have been championing. The issue-based questions are meant to be quick yes or no answers to help you complete the questionnaire faster.
How we will elect a Progressive Champion in Scarborough—Rouge Park
Scarborough—Rouge Park will choose its new city councillor during the September 29 by-election. Progress Toronto will play a role in helping voters this by-election. We will do that by learning more about candidates better and mobilize support for a candidate committed to our city.
Once we register as a third-party advertiser, we will support our chosen candidate to help them win. We will encourage people to donate and volunteer directly with the candidate's campaign. We will also run our own parallel campaign and work with teams of volunteers to get voters to the polls to vote for the Progressive Champion. Volunteers will be mobilized to drop flyers, knock on doors, call and text voters, and turnout more progressive voters on election day.
