Founding Advisor | Progress Toronto
Janelle Brady is a Founding Advisor of Progress Toronto. Janelle is a community organizer and activist who looks at dismantling systemic oppression and racism of Black and racialized communities. She is involved in activism and political organizing such as the Women’s March Toronto.
Janelle is currently a PhD student at the University of Toronto, completing a doctoral degree in Social Justice Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). At OISE, Janelle is the President of CUPE Local 3907 and a co-coordinator of the Centre for Integrative Anti-Racism Studies.
Janelle established Community Forward, a not-for-profit organization which has created mentorship opportunities for youth who are labelled as ‘marginalized’. She is the founder of the Downsview Advocate, a progressive local newspaper distributed to over 25,000 homes in Toronto’s north end with an aim to foster civic engagement.
