Speak up for Renters at City Hall!
Doug Ford’s government is pushing new legislation (Bill 60) that would make it easier for landlords to evict renters and make finding an affordable place to live even harder.
On November 4, city councillors and Mayor Chow will discuss how they will respond to Ford's attempt to strip away renter’s rights. We need to tell City Hall to stand up for renters and demand real protections.
That’s why we are helping people speak directly to city council. Speaking at a committee is also known as making a deputation. Deputations are an opportunity for you to tell elected officials your opinions and experiences on issues they will be voting on. Anyone is welcome to speak.
Here are a few ways Progress Toronto can support you:
- Attend our virtual Deputation Prep Session on Sunday, November 2 at 1pm
- Provide you with a worksheet to prepare your deputation
- Personal support from experienced speakers
- Access to our WhatsApp group to connect with other speakers and receive updates
Join the Prep Session
On Sunday, November 2 at 1pm we will be hosting an online Deputation Prep Session. We’ll help you learn the basics of crafting a deputation speech, brainstorm what you’d like to speak about, and practice delivering an impactful speech in a supportive space.
