Your Progressive Champions
This is a big election for Toronto. On Election Day, October 26, Toronto will elect its mayor, City Councillors and its Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Trustees. With the election of a more progressive council, affordable housing is being built, transit is moving again, and services are being improved. But there's so much more to do. That’s why Progress Toronto is focused on electing a new generation of candidates.
At Progress Toronto, we don't simply endorse candidates. We pick key races where we're ready to get to work on the ground to make sure Progressive Champions win. Below is the list of Progressive Champions we're working to elect right now. More to follow as we get closer to the election!
Why does this election matter?
Together, we've helped elect a more progressive council and TDSB—six city councillors and the mayor to City Hall, and six trustees. Because of that, we're finally seeing leadership from City Hall on long-standing problems: investments in transit, affordable housing, and public services. And our elected TDSB Trustees who stood up against Ford’s attacks on our schools. But this is just the start.
The 2026–2030 City Council term will be about championing bold solutions on affordability, investing in services, and more. This election is about strengthening the progressive coalition on City Council and electing leaders who will keep moving our city forward—instead of returning to the conservative tradition of underinvestment that created many of these problems in the first place.
We've been organizing across Toronto on the issues that matter most, and thousands of you have been part of that work: knocking on doors, attending community meetings, sending emails, signing petitions, posting online, and asking others to take action. Electing progressives is only one piece of the strategy. In the new term at City Council and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), we'll need to keep organizing to win.
This election is our chance to send more Progressive Champions to City Hall and the TDSB—people who don't need to be convinced to vote the right way. You can work now to make sure your Progressive Champions are elected, right there alongside communities, fighting for our city with urgency.

After surveying residents, consulting community organizations, and reviewing candidates’ policy positions and their campaign’s strengths, Progress Toronto is proud to announce your Progressive Champions! As the election goes on we will release more candidates and soon, we will be releasing our list of the most harmful, conservative candidates that we will work hard to defeat by informing thousands of voters of their records. Stay tuned!
How Progress Toronto chose candidates:
we took a deep look at the numbers (past election results and more) and candidates across the city
we surveyed residents across Toronto and met with community groups to learn their priorities on key issues
we surveyed candidates running for City Council and the TDSB asking them to commit to progressive priorities for Toronto
we identified key races where we could make the difference and what work we could do to make that difference
What supporting a Progressive Champion means
Supporting Progressive Champions in key races happens in different ways depending on each local election. First of all, we get the word out about our Progressive Champions and encourage you to donate and volunteer directly with them. We also work with our volunteers to talk to voters about their Progressive Champion and to get out their vote. In each of our battleground wards, we mobilize volunteers to drop flyers, knock on doors, call and text voters, and ultimately to turnout more progressive voters on election day.
